Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 6 pm Christopher Paul Stelling Opening: Ali Rood New York, NY
There is a fearless quality to the music of Christopher Paul Stelling. A voice that sounds both old and young, an effortless yet intricate finger-picking guitar style and lyrics that are both dramatic, and intensely confessional. It’s a sound that channels the restless spirit of a young man who left home to travel the country, haunting and impassioned songs formed by endless nights alone on stage with a guitar, playing to packed houses, other times to nearly empty rooms. Stelling released his newest album Itinerant Arias in May. Unlike previous records, Itinerant Arias finds Stelling backed by a band, electrified if you will.
July 18, 2017 at 6 pm Erik Koskinen Opening: Manda Lynne Minneapolis, MN
Candor and craft are front and center on Erik Koskinen’s new album, Erik Koskinen Live at The Real Phonic Radio Hour. Recorded at the monthly James J. Hill Library Radio Show featuring Erik’s regular band Paul Bergen, Frankie Lee, and JT Bates. All fifteen songs capture the power of music made in synchronous time, place, and company. Koskinen, whose last two albums Keep It To Yourself and America Theatre showcased his witty lyricism, sharp tongue, and poignant songs, does them one better with Live, releasing some old favorites along with eight never-before-recorded songs.
July 25, 2017 at 6pm Dave Simonett Opening: Josh Driscoll Minneapolis, MN Sponsored by Kate and Darrell Larson
As the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for Trampled by Turtles, Dave Simonett has had a noteworthy 2016 full of sold out shows coast to coast –including noteworthy performances at Newport Folk Festival and Red Rocks Amphitheater. Don't miss this opportunity to share an intimate, acoustic show with Simonett, performing songs from his solo EP Razor Pony as well as his other works from Trampled by Turtles and Dead Man Winter.
August 8, 2017 at 6 pm Chastity Brown Opening: Moon Shines Red Minneapolis, MN Sponsored by Bryan Hoime and Greg Martin
Based in Minnesota, but with roots in Tennessee, Chastity grew up surrounded by country and soul music. In the full gospel church of her childhood, she played saxophone and drums and found her singing voice and a passion for music. Her first show was in Knoxville, TN, and then it was on to Minneapolis. Since then, she’s been featured on NPR’s “Favorite Sessions,” CMT, American Songwriter, the London Times, Paste Magazine and others. Chastity has toured the U.S. and abroad, appearing on the U.K.’s Later…with Jools Holland. For much of 2016, she toured alongside folk icon/activist Ani Difranco.
August 29, 2017 at 6 pm Paul Cauthen Opening: Ryan Avdem Tyler, TX Sponsored by Bryan Hoime and Greg Martin
Cauthen has been the strongest, loudest singer in the room for as long as he can remember. He grew up in Tyler, Texas, where his grandfather––a songwriter and gospel song leader originally from Lubbock who worked with artists including Buddy Holly, Sonny Curtis, and other Crickets––taught Cauthen and his two sisters to sing harmony. Fans will remember his name from Sons of Fathers, the raucous Texicana group he co-founded in 2011 with bassist David Beck. Recently, however, Cauthen ventured out on a solo career releasing My Gospel in 2016, delivering the songs on My Gospel with the tortured showmanship of Jerry Lee Lewis and seductive ease of Elvis.
